I'm hoping to find Canadian Bloggers from each province, and at least one territory (fingers crossed for all 3!) to duplicate her project. Who would be interested?
Newfoundland and Labrador (Can do one for each if enough interest)
Nova Scotia (Can do a separate Cape Breton post)
Prince Edward Island
New Brunswick
Quebec (maybe one English, one French?)
Ontario: HUGE province, I'd be willing to chunk it up into smaller bits if multiple interest
Manitoba
Saskatchewan
Alberta
British Columbia
Yukon
Northwest Territories
Nunavut
Native Canadian Perspective (Ideally from a person from this heritage)
Like I've indicated, I'm willing to subdivide the provinces if there is multiple interest from any, we're a HUGE country.
I call mainland Nova Scotia for myself.
A date will be chosen after there is at least one blogger in place for each province.
If you're interested in participating, please leave a comment below indicating your province.
Also, could some of you please share this project on your blogs, Facebook page, etc to help me find enough participants? I'll be eternally grateful!

Hi, I would love to participate in your Booking Across Canada. I live in British Columbia, so I would like to claim that province.

I would love to participate. I live in Southwestern Ontario! I could do a picture book or junior novel if that helps break it down.
ReplyDeleteLooking From Third to Fourth
I'd love to participate too! I'm in northern Ontario, and my fist language is French, so I could do something in French if you<d like. What a great idea! I'm off to blog about this on my own blog!
ReplyDeleteI saw your comment on my blog and of course I would love to participate. I live in Ontario and teach upper elementary. I am currently doing some work with my students on a Canadian novel called "Airborn" by Kenneth Oppel. Would this fit your criteria or are you looking for picture books? I also have some activities that would go with "Tree of Life" which is an awesome science related picture book by a Canadian author. Let me know!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea! I am actually new to Canada (originally from Mississippi), but am now living in Edmonton, Alberta and would love to be apart of this. I teach K/1. This will be a great way for me to learn more myself about Canadian books and other parts of Canada. :)

I'd love to participate! Thanks for the invite! My class will soon be reading a French translation of an Eric Walters book. He's an author here in Ontario that's quite popular.
ReplyDeleteI have a PEI & Winnipeg connection in mind if you need to be put in touch with a couple of possibilities!
Will you email us the details?

ReplyDeleteAlso, Ms. M from Teachingisagift - My students last year LOVED "Airborn". I've read the whole series - so great!

Hello! Thanks for the message. I am happy to join. I live in southern Ontario. You might already have enough people for that area though.
ReplyDeleteLet me know :)
Hello! Thanks for the message - this is going to be a great set of posts! I'm in PEI. Just wondering, what kind of books are you looking for? Those by Island authors, or those that are actually used in Island classrooms? Are we thinking Anne of Green Gables? Thanks:) Krystal

Hi, I see there are others who would like to do BC. I would love to share our province with them. I was thinking of doing S is for Spirit Bear. I know I claimed it first, but it is such a diverse province, it is worth being featured in many different ways.

Thanks for stopping by The Canadian Homeschooler! I'll be happy to share your project with my readers. As you already have both my and my blog partner's provinces taken care of, I'll see if we can help fill in some of the provinces you are missing so far!
ReplyDeleteAll the best with your project. When it goes live, please let me know so we can share it! :)
I will, thank you!
DeleteCan more than one in a province participate? I live in Halifax and would love to join in!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I could even do Alberta for you, as my sister lives there. If you need someone to fill in. I know, as a homeschooler, she would have some good resources for me.

That's a great idea Ms M! I will do that for sure! This could be an amazing project if we get something from each province! What book did you choose? I have also found the PERFECT book. I'm wondering if we found the same one. LOL I'm very excited about this!

BC seems to have lots of representation already. I started my teaching career in Nunavut - lived and taught there for 5 years. If you don't have anyone from Nunavut and you don't need a 5th BC blogger ...
