All About Me

Hi, I'm Desiree Trott!

Thank You for Visiting.
I hope you find what you're looking for.

And if you've landed here, that means you're looking for original teaching resources and the occasional clip art for your pre-k to grade 2 classrooms. I am ALWAYS adding more resources and take CUSTOM REQUESTS. Currently you'll find seasonally appropriate activities for reading and math in the early years.

If that's what you're looking for, then you're in luck!

Who is Desiree?
I'm a certified teacher in THREE Canadian provinces and ONE state, currently a stay at home mom, blogger, creator and wanna be writer. Not to mention a Pinterest addict and baker!

It's a highly competitive market to get into Education in the Maritimes, so I crossed the border to attend UMPI in Presque Isle, Maine to receive my credits for Education Certification in 2004. GO OWLS!

I started the Reading with Mrs. D blog in 2012 while on maternity leave. I mostly dabbled over the years, but since leaving the classroom last year I have tripled my efforts to bring you what you want and need.
I started my career as a K-12 substitute in NS before moving along and finding teaching positions in the rest of the country, first on a Cree Reserve in Manitoba, and then on a Metis Settlement in Saskatchewan. I have also taught in a religious private school.

Through these 3 positions, I have taught grades 1 through 3, and find that my passion lies in grade 1!

I look forward to where the winds take me next.
My husband and I have known each other since junior high (that's middle school to most of you). But.... we didn't properly date until years later. Like a decade after high school graduation. Sometimes you just need to figure out who YOU are before you realize the right person is right there waiting for you, lol.
We got married in 2011, and haven’t looked back!
He is very supportive of my career and the changes we have made for it. However, in 2015 we came back home to follow his career. I knew this meant possibly a career change since the job market for teachers here is slim. I’d be looking at possibly years as a substitute teacher with stints as a term teacher. Not exactly consistent when you have a young daughter. So, for now I’m a stay at home mom. I may go back to teaching/subbing when she starts school in September, or I may take a career change, but I will never leave the educational field behind as I LOVE creating resources to share with you!
