Booking across Canada

Do any of you follow Growing Book by Book? If you don't you should. She has tons of great ideas for lots of different age appropriate books. This week she hosted a huge project with the assistance of 50 bloggers across the US. Each blogger shared a book that represented their state, and shared a project or activity students (either school or home school) could do to connect with the book on a deeper level. Complete list of bloggers.

I'm hoping to find Canadian Bloggers from each province, and at least one territory (fingers crossed for all 3!) to duplicate her project. Who would be interested?

Newfoundland and Labrador (Can do one for each if enough interest)
Nova Scotia (Can do a separate Cape Breton post)
Prince Edward Island
New Brunswick
Quebec (maybe one English, one French?)
Ontario: HUGE province, I'd be willing to chunk it up into smaller bits if multiple interest
Manitoba
Saskatchewan
Alberta
British Columbia
Yukon
Northwest Territories
Nunavut
Native Canadian Perspective (Ideally from a person from this heritage)

Like I've indicated, I'm willing to subdivide the provinces if there is multiple interest from any, we're a HUGE country.

I call mainland Nova Scotia for myself.

A date will be chosen after there is at least one blogger in place for each province.

If you're interested in participating, please leave a comment below indicating your province.

Also, could some of you please share this project on your blogs, Facebook page, etc to help me find enough participants? I'll be eternally grateful!

100 Fingers

I absolutely LOVE the idea of celebrating 100th day in school and the obvious number theory skills your class will learn as you count forwards to the day you will celebrate.

I love the idea of making a number train around the classroom, adding a number each day. How about on every fifth day using a hand to represent that five days have passed? This will also help the students learn about the number 5!

For this idea, I have prepared a number of hands each with a multiple of five printed on it up to number 100.

Here is an example. Go to Teachers pay teachers for the entire file.
Raise your Hand to 100: A count by 5's Poster set.

Print either as full page for student colouring, or as half pages to use as part of your number line.

Let me know what you use it for and how you use it, thanks!

That's dedication...

How literally do you students take you and/or their parents?

Amelia Bedelia, anyone?
