Mothers Day prep 2016
I'm sure most of you have SOME idea of what your class is doing next week. But if not, here's some inspiration!
Last year my class made Hugs and we shared a video of the class singing a song for their moms too a local Facebook group. It was SO cute. And SO easy. My class had very little attention span, so it was perfect for them.
I don't seem to have managed to take a picture of the teapots my class made the year before. But they were SO cute! Folded card stock and a teabag tucked inside.
This MAY be the template I used, but I'm not sure. There are many samples of this online. Click on the image to find it in her store.
Done these two ideas and looking for more options? 'll share with you my favourite Mothers Day Pins.
And I can't let this opportunity pass by without plugging a Freebie I posted. It's a Mothers Day Pinboard inspired by Pinterest! It would be easy to use them template for so many writing and reading response activities. Enjoy!

The Weird Family
Who do you teach the double letter sounds?
I made this wall of the WEIRD family.
Obviously, a few of the sounds are actually the same as single letters.
CK WH and PH can all be directly connected to C K W and F, and as such if you're using Jolly Phonics like me, the actions you use for these are the same, but I still separate them since students need to know how to READ the sounds.
I love seeing kids do the actions for sounds when they are trying to read!

Classroom Library
When I inherited this classroom in early December, I discovered the library collection wasn't very large. It was actually pretty sad.
So I began haunting Kijiji and Local buy and sell Facebook groups in search of good deals on kids books.
One day I found this guy who was selling almost 100 books for $30. SOLD!

Respect with Body parts
We were having some respect issues in class, so we had this visual lesson about what it looks like when we care for each other.
I drew first drew each body part, then asked the class what we do to show respect and caring with that part. For the hands we had a quick review of what ecatly "Magic Hands" are.

Number Sequencing
Have you ever had a group of students who could SAY the numbers, and idenify some, but couldn't actually look at all of the first 20 numbers and put them in order?
One of the activities I planned to fix this used these number cards. First we shuffled the numbers on our desk and I called out each number in order to find. Then we shuffled again and I called them out of order. Then, I handed out the construction paper and we glued them in order.
It helped some!
